Slice of Teaching #27: well, reality was nice.

The toddler is not quite well enough to go back to school yet (darn you, pink test line), so my writing tonight was sub plans.

I did make a mug cake from a TikTok recipe that was shockingly good:

A hand holds a white coffee mug with chocolate cake visible inside of it.

The cake, the couch, and the husband kept me company while I posted the not-there version of what I hoped students could accomplish tomorrow. That’s a legitimate slice of teaching, too: the optimism and struggle that is writing a good substitute lesson plan. Here’s hoping that the combination of a short and long assignment works well:

College Prep: brief article & discussion board post,  followed by “finish your scholarship essays!”

Debate: Google Form-assisted notes on bills and resolutions, combined with completing research from before the break

In any case, it’s the husband’s turn to go to work after he took kid duty today. It’ll work out somehow.

So much for you to juggle! … hope the kiddos still accomplish great things in your absence. -Tracy
